Barium sulfate

Precipitated Barium sulfate is produced with chemical process. It has higher content, whiter and smaller particle size than natural barium sulfate.

Precipitated Barium sulfate is produced by two chemical processes :

Sodium sulfate

First, mix mineral BaSO4 with fine coal and heat it to a high degree of temperature in a crucible, or rotary furnace, with the chemical reaction that the mineral BaSO4 will become precipitated barium sulfate.

Sulfuric Acid Process

The barium sulfate is subjected to the action of acid, with resultant reaction of the barium sulfate and the production of a solution of barium chloride. Then, to complete the process, sulfuric acid is added to the barium chloride solution, and the desired precipitated barium sulfate is obtained.

Powder Coating Industry

In powder coatings, barium sulfate is better than most other fillers, especially in chemical resistance coating the inert insoluble in water, acid, alkali and organic intermediate. Excellent gloss and fineness of the particles and can increase the surface hardness and color stability.

Barium sulfate is safe unless misused

Superfine barium sulfate is precipitated barium sulfate with extremely high dispersion. Soluble in hot sulfuric acid, insoluble in water, alcohol and other solvents. With narrow particle size distribution range, good dispersion, strong chemical inertia, good stability, acid and alkali resistance, moderate hardness, high relative density, high whiteness, can absorb harmful rays and other advantages, is a material with environmental protection function and safety.
Avoid contact with oxides. Almost insoluble in water, ethanol and acids. Soluble in hot concentrated sulfuric acid, easy to agglomerate when dry.
Staff should do a good job of protection, the workplace should have good ventilation conditions. In case of contact with skin or eyes, wash immediately with running water.

Operators must be specially trained and strictly abide by the operating procedures. It is recommended that operators wear self-priming filter dust masks. Avoid dust generation. Avoid contact with reducing agent. Handling should be carried lightly to prevent damage to packaging and containers.

Keep away from ignition and heat sources. Packing should be sealed and out of contact with air. Should be separated from reducing agent, flammable, combustible, metal powder, etc.
Barium sulfate warehouse
Store in ventilated and dry storeroom. Do not store and transport with acids and edible articles. Handle with care during loading and unloading to prevent packing damage.
